Hansford VINELink Coverage Today
The Hansford County Sheriff page still labels its custody link as VINELink. Texas changed county victim notification to Texas IVSS-Counties. The current portal searches participating Texas county custody data and records for people in custody or under supervision. Availability can still depend on the agency feed.
IVSS is designed for a specific-person check and notifications. It does not replace the Sheriff's permanent jail register, booking-out form, or release and transfer order. It also does not cover federal BOP or ICE custody through their separate locators. For a Hansford County case, identify which agency held the person before treating any result as relevant.
The Texas Attorney General documents the change from VINE to IVSS. Its transition notice explains that county registrations moved to the new system.
Check One Hansford Inmate in IVSS
Search carefully. IVSS accepts a full or partial name and several agency identifiers. Names alone can collide, so compare any available jail, SID, or DOC identifier before opening a result. Record the exact agency, wording, and update time rather than reducing every status change to “released.”

- When available, use a DOC ID, SID, Jail ID, or Permanent Booking number to narrow the match.
- Complete the CAPTCHA and compare identifiers before selecting a record.
- Read the custody or supervision status, agency or location, and displayed update time. Save the wording needed for a later agency call.

Hansford IVSS Release Fields
An IVSS match can show a custody or supervision state and the agency associated with it. That is useful for following a transfer or asking the right office for records. The portal warns that a person who is no longer in custody may not appear, and an old registration can remain ready if the person returns to custody.

If IVSS reports a move out of custody, request the Sheriff's actual release or transfer time and order. If it says under supervision, contact the named office. Supervision can prove community status without proving full sentence discharge.
Register for Hansford Release Alerts
Notifications may be requested for an in-custody person with or without an account. Use only the contact methods offered by the live portal. Current Texas materials do not confirm the old four-digit PIN procedure found in legacy VINELink tutorials, so follow the displayed IVSS confirmation instead.
- Find and open the correct in-custody record.
- Select the notification option attached to that record.
- Provide an offered telephone, text, or email method.
- Complete the confirmation shown by IVSS. Do not invent or reuse an old VINE PIN step.
- Create or sign in to an account if ongoing preference management is useful.
The IVSS registration page is the current account route. Existing VINE registrations carried into IVSS, though a first login may call for a password update.
Confirm a Hansford IVSS Alert
IVSS operates around the clock, but it disclaims completeness, timeliness, and official-record status. A fast notification can precede the final paperwork. A blank can reflect release, a feed issue, a spelling mismatch, transfer, or the service's scope. Call IVSS support at 866-268-8959 for system help, then ask the record-holding agency what event occurred.
Hansford County Jail can document community release or transfer. TDCJ handles state-prison records, though its public inmate search is limited to people currently incarcerated. The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal custody. ICE ODLS addresses current immigration detention. None of those systems can stand in for the others.
Ask Hansford for the permanent jail-register entry, booking-out sheet, release or transfer order, actual time, authority, and destination. This separates a true community release from a move to another county, TDCJ, federal custody, or immigration custody.

Why Hansford Still Says VINELink
The county and state labels are temporarily out of step. Hansford's official Sheriff page still sends readers to a link named VINELink, while Texas replaced county VINE service with IVSS-Counties on September 1, 2025. That does not make the Sheriff's page unofficial. It means the state provider and workflow changed after the local label was written.
Old instructions often tell users to choose Texas in VINELink and create a four-digit PIN. Current Texas source material does not support that PIN step. Existing registrations transferred, and current notifications use the methods and confirmation presented by IVSS. Following the current portal avoids a failed legacy workflow.
This local transition is also why a saved alert should not be treated as a permanent archive. A registration may remain ready for later custody even when a person is not displayed. The Sheriff's underlying register remains the durable source for the event itself.
For a transfer, follow the new custodian. A county record may point to TDCJ, another county, federal authorities, or immigration custody. IVSS does not turn that transfer into community release. The receiving agency's locator and records then become the next source, while Hansford's transfer order remains proof of how county custody ended.
For a court-ordered release, compare the order with the jail's booking-out time. An order can be signed before release processing ends, and another hold may change the destination. The alert helps with timing, but the two official records explain both authority and physical departure.
Use at least two identifiers when possible. A full legal name plus date of birth, booking number, SID, or DOC number reduces the risk of selecting the wrong person. Suffixes, aliases, hyphenated names, and similar spellings can produce a miss or a false match. Do not publish full identifiers just because they helped with a private agency inquiry.
IVSS can also display supervision information. That matters when a person has left confinement on parole or mandatory supervision. It does not mean the sentence is discharged, and it does not establish the exact Hansford jail exit time. Contact the named parole office for active status and TDCJ for the release certificate or later discharge record.
A state-prison projection requires a different tool. The TDCJ public inmate search may show a projected date for a person who is still incarcerated, but it drops former inmates from the public view. IVSS supplies alerts and status. TDCJ supplies state corrections records. Hansford County supplies its jail release or transfer record. Keeping those functions separate prevents one portal's absence from becoming false proof.
For federal custody, use the BOP Inmate Locator. A past date and `RELEASED` status indicate departure from BOP custody, not release from all custody or supervision. ICE ODLS covers current qualifying immigration custody and is not a release archive. Neither system feeds a complete Hansford County release history into IVSS.
The notification itself may arrive before family members can obtain a certified record. Write down the message text, delivery time, named agency, and any event label. Then call the Hansford County Jail at 806-659-4140. Ask whether the person bonded out, completed time, was released by court order, or transferred. If transferred, ask for the receiving custodian. This question is more precise than asking only whether the person is “there.”
A Texas county jail register must retain core facts such as the person's name, intake number, reason for confinement, and date of release or transfer. IVSS is useful for speed; the permanent register is useful for durable proof.
When an alert concerns a state prisoner, check whether it reports movement, supervision, or release. TDCJ's public inmate lookup is limited to current inmates and may no longer return the person after departure. A former inmate's public incarceration and release history can be requested from TDCJ. If parole remains active, the assigned district parole office supplies another current-status check.
Notifications can be valuable when a court order and physical release do not occur at the same moment. Processing, paperwork, property return, or a hold may intervene. Texas jail standards require proper release authority, the time of release, and a signed property receipt. Those records can resolve a dispute that a portal timestamp cannot.
Do not confuse the specialized Texas sex-offender registry with IVSS. The registry applies only to people with a qualifying registration duty. It may contain community-status information for that narrow group, but a miss says nothing about other released people. IVSS remains the notification route, while the agency record remains the release proof.
