Leaving Hansford County Jail can mean several different things. Bond, time served, dismissal, completion of a county sentence, or another valid release order can return a person to the community. A transfer order may instead place the person with TDCJ, another county, the U.S. Marshals, or immigration authorities. Hansford has no published fixed price or guaranteed turnaround. Confidential portions may be redacted, but the request can ask for all segregable public material.
Hansford Jail Release Records
Texas Local Schedule PS makes the county record path durable. Series PS4200-06 requires permanent retention of the county jail register. Its minimum fields include name, gender, intake number, reason for commitment or confinement, and date of release or transfer. That register survives even when an online listing does not exist. It is the sound starting point for a past Hansford County Jail event.
Series PS4200-10 covers prisoner-incarceration material, including booking-in and booking-out forms, commitment orders, transfer orders, and release orders. Hansford County Jail Facts
Hansford County Jail is the only verified detention facility in the county for this project. Spearman and Gruver law-enforcement agencies may make arrests, but research found no separately certified municipal jail or independent municipal release database. Ask the arresting agency where the person was booked. Do not use an unofficial directory's “police jail” label as proof of a separate facility.
The Texas Commission on Jail Standards has reported a capacity of nine. That number describes rated scale, not current occupancy and not annual releases. Hansford publishes no current count, release total, bond schedule, pay-to-stay fee, transport service, or reentry program for the jail. Claims about those topics should not be inferred from another Texas county.

Hansford Release Property Receipt
Texas Commission on Jail Standards Chapter 267 requires a signed property receipt when a person is discharged or released. Hansford County does not publish local property-pickup instructions, a release exit, or a waiting area. The receipt is still a useful record because it connects the departure process with the return of stored property.
Request the property receipt with the release order and recorded time. If an item is disputed, identify it with care and ask Jail Administrator Misty Garrett where a formal property question should go. Do not assume family members may collect property or that the jail uses the same rule as a larger county. Current instructions must come from the jail.
Release hour, weekend handling, transport, and bond-out logistics were also not published. Call before traveling. A court ruling or bond payment can authorize release while jail processing, another hold, or transfer paperwork still prevents physical departure.
Hansford Jail Courthouse History
Texas Historical Commission documentation gives Hansford County Jail a distinct courthouse-complex history. It describes a first-floor corridor and an addition entrance associated with the jail. That architectural note helps explain the facility's local setting, but it is historical evidence rather than a current operating instruction.
Do not use the historic corridor reference as today's release door, waiting spot, or public entrance. Building access and custody procedures can change. Anyone meeting a released person should confirm the current location with the Sheriff before arriving. This distinction is important in a courthouse complex where public offices, secure areas, and old plans may not match present use.
The Historical Commission record supports only the local history. The Sheriff remains the source for present release logistics.
After Hansford Jail Transfer
No TDCJ prison, federal prison, or ICE detention center was identified inside Hansford County. A person sentenced from a Hansford court can still enter TDCJ after transfer. In that case, use the statewide TDCJ search for current incarceration and request state history for a completed discharge. The county jail's record should show the handoff; it should not be described as a state-prison release.
A federal defendant may be held for the U.S. Marshals in a contract facility outside the county. The BOP locator can later show a federal record, but the federal court's detention or release order may be decisive for a pretrial case.
