Hansford Projected and Actual Dates
A projected date is a calculation, not a record that someone walked out. TDCJ Classification and Records calculates its `Projected Release Date` from the sentence, offense law, eligibility, flat time, credit, and Board action. A later `Scheduled Release date` means processing has advanced. The actual release date is the completed event recorded by the jail or TDCJ.
Hansford County Jail also holds people before judgment. A pretrial detainee has no sentence-based projection. Release may depend on bond, dismissal, a court order, or resolution of another hold. For a sentenced county term, ask jail records and the sentencing clerk for the calculation and eventual release order. TDCJ credit rules should never be copied onto a county sentence without authority.

Find a Hansford Projected Release Date
Begin with custody type. The TDCJ Inmate Search covers only people currently incarcerated in a TDCJ facility. It does not index an ordinary Hansford jail stay and does not keep a public archive of former inmates. Its form accepts last name, first name, TDCJ number, SID number, gender, and race.
- Check the Hansford jail or court record to learn whether the person remains in county custody or entered TDCJ.
- For current TDCJ custody, search by TDCJ or SID number when possible and open the matching detail record.
- Read `Projected Release Date` exactly. If processing has advanced, also look for `Scheduled Release date` and `Scheduled Release location`.

Texas Good Time for Hansford Cases
Texas Government Code Chapter 498 governs state good-conduct time. TDCJ describes time-earning levels as dependent on classification, conduct, program participation, and the law tied to the offense date. Good time can affect eligibility for parole or mandatory supervision. It is not a guaranteed day-for-day subtraction from the court sentence.
Credits can be suspended or forfeited after discipline. Restoration rules vary, and some later forfeitures may not be restored. Certain serious or assaultive categories do not let good time count toward the parole threshold. Mandatory supervision has its own rules in Government Code Sections 508.147 through 508.151, including exclusions and discretionary Board review for eligible later offenses.
Texas has no universal rule that all state prisoners serve 85 percent. The federal shorthand should not be imported into a Hansford or TDCJ calculation. For many serious or deadly-weapon cases, Section 508.145(d) uses actual calendar time of one-half the sentence or thirty years, whichever is less, before parole eligibility, without good time counting toward that threshold. Eligibility permits review; it does not promise release.
State-jail diligent-participation credit is different again. In qualifying cases, the sentencing judge may award credit under the law that applies to the offense and judgment. It is not ordinary TDCJ good time and cannot be assumed in every state-jail felony case.
Why Hansford Release Dates Move
A displayed date reflects the information available at that time. It can move earlier or later when the sentence record, credit, Board decision, release plan, or another legal claim changes. A favorable parole vote starts more work. It is not the physical release event.

Registration requirements, special conditions, and the named release location may also affect processing. Ask whether an answer is a projection, a scheduled event, a parole vote, or an actual release. Those phrases describe different stages.
Confirm a Hansford Release Date
For a current state prisoner, recheck TDCJ shortly before the displayed date. The Ombudsman's guidance says a scheduled date can change without notice, even that day. For Hansford County Jail, call 806-659-4140 and ask whether the event was community release or transfer. Request the booking-out sheet, release or transfer order, actual date and time, authority, and destination. Hansford Projected Versus Scheduled Dates
TDCJ defines the projected date as Classification and Records' estimate of when incarceration may end if parole does not occur sooner. For some mandatory-supervision-eligible cases, calendar time plus earned good time shapes that field. A Board denial can move the projection to maximum expiration, while a later approval may move it earlier.
The separate scheduled date appears only after release has been scheduled. TDCJ pairs it with a planned release location. Processing can still depend on a certificate audit, approved residence plan, required programs, special conditions, and unresolved holds. The location matters because the person may not leave from the unit where the family expects.

Hansford County Date Gaps
A parole-in-absentia case creates a specific county-versus-state gap. When release occurs from a county jail, TDCJ Classification and Records may not calculate or post that county-jail date online. Confirm the event with Hansford County Jail or the Huntsville Parole Review Unit rather than waiting for a TDCJ web field.
A person can also leave Hansford custody through transfer. A register date labeled “release or transfer” needs the destination and order before it can be called community release. If TDCJ, BOP, ICE, or another county took custody, follow that agency's records.
No Hansford source supplies a universal local good-time formula, weekend-release rule, or fixed release hour. The county calculation must come from the jail and sentencing court. This restraint is important because state credit law and another county's practice may not control a Hansford jail term.
Parole eligibility is another date that readers often mistake for release. Eligibility marks when a case may be reviewed under the applicable law. It does not compel a favorable vote, finish release processing, or cancel a hold. A denial can set a later review date, while an approval may carry programs and special conditions. Ask TDCJ which date is being quoted before making plans around it.
Maximum expiration also differs from a projected or scheduled date. It generally marks the sentence endpoint under the controlling record, while an earlier community release may still carry supervision. A person can therefore be out of a unit yet not fully discharged. Obtain the release certificate for the custody event and the later discharge record for sentence completion.
When dates conflict, do not average them or choose the earliest. Note the source, label, and lookup time for each. Then ask Classification and Records, the Hansford jail, or the sentencing clerk which calculation controls. A newly entered judgment, credit correction, detainer, or Board action may explain the difference.
TDCJ's free email information route can provide the TDCJ number, location, conviction offense, prior and current incarceration details, and projected release date. Put the inmate's name in the subject and include the seven-digit TDCJ number. If that number is unknown, use the exact date of birth or an approximate age with the county of conviction. For a completed release, ask for public history and release or discharge information rather than expecting the person to remain online.

A clear question should name the field sought and distinguish a Board vote from scheduling or physical release.
A county court date can influence custody without becoming a projected release date. A bond order, dismissal, sentence credit, or time-served judgment supplies legal authority. Hansford jail staff must still process the exit and check other holds. Request both the court order and the actual booking-out entry if the timing matters. When the record says transfer, follow the receiving agency rather than calling the event a release.
Mandatory supervision deserves special care. Calendar time plus good time can reach the sentence length in an eligible case, but Section 508.149 excludes listed categories. For many offenses committed on or after September 1, 1996, the Board can deny discretionary mandatory supervision. Sections 508.147, 508.149, and 508.151 govern distinct parts of that process. A formula alone cannot predict the Board result.
Offense date matters because Texas law has changed over time. The former “3g offense” label points to an older statute; current serious-offense categories appear principally in Code of Criminal Procedure Article 42A.054. Use the agency's calculation for the named sentence. Do not estimate a Hansford County projected release date from sentence length alone.
